Nordic walking in and around Bad Breisig
Have fun in one of the biggest Nordic walking parks
Bad Breisig is right on the edge of the 'Ahr Rhein Eifel' Nordic fitness park, the biggest Nordic walking park in Germany. Bad Breisig forms part of the 76 km 'Rheinmeile' (Rhine Mile) trail. Bad Breisig itself has four waymarked sections including a 21.1 km half-marathon.

Brief description: 

The route starts at the information board in Mönchsheide car park. Following the waymarkers. The trail along the edge of the wood is level.

Brief description:

The route starts at the information board in Mönchsheide car park. Follow the waymarkers, turn right onto Footpath 1, then right after a short distance onto the Rheinhöhenweg footpath. Continue straight on towards the Rhine along the hilltop then turn left down to the Tiefpfad path. Follow the beautiful Tiefpfad Valley to your left to the Aulenberg, then right along the Rheinhöhenweg. Turn left out of the wood and back towards the starting point.

Section 9 "Bad Breisig"

Starting point: Römer-Thermen Bad Breisig
Brief description: 

The route starts from the information board at the Roman Thermal Spa building in Bad Breisig. Follow the waymarkers for the Rheinhöhenweg footpath along the street. Climb up the Rheinhöhenweg footpath to the Hahn shooting range. Continue towards the viewing hut which offers wonderful views of the Eifel. Bear right over the Trotzenberg to the Judenkirchhof (Jewish cemetery). Turn right off the Rheinhöhenweg towards the Rhine and left down to the Tiefpfad. Turn left out of the Tiefpfad valley then right for another short stretch along the Rheinhöhenweg. Left out of the wood and along the edge of the wood back towards the car park in Mönchsheide. Take the glorious Waldweg 2 (Woodland path 2) as far as the Rheinhöhenweg and follow it bearing right again towards the viewing hut and back into the valley for the return to Bad Breisig.

Section 10, half marathon - section linking Remagen - Bad Breisig

Brief description: 

The route starts at the information board in front of Hotel Pinger at Remagen railway station. Cross under the B9 and follow the historic Kastanienallee (Chestnut Avenue) up to the Reisberg. Follow the Rheinhöhenweg through the historic centre of Bad Bodendorf to the Kurpark . From the thermal spa, carry on via the sporting Mühlenberg to Restaurant Ännchen. After a half-way break, continue through Westum towards the sports ground in Koisdorf. A beautiful footpath along the edge of the wood and a short sloping woodland path will take you to the historic palace of Schloß Ahrenthal where regular events are held during the day. Bearing left past the moated palace, the path continues through the private woodland to the Gappental valley and the Rheinhöhenweg. Where the two meet, bear right onto the Mönchsheide plateau. To complete the half marathon, follow the path around the Mönchsheide past the gliding centre and the car park towards the Trotzenberg. The route continues right along the Rheinhöhenweg past the Eifelblick viewing hut to the finishing point at the Roman Thermal Spa in Bad Breisig.
